Event Design: From Concept to Execution

The Berlin Festival of Lights attracts numerous visitors each year, who are captivated by unique light installations and creative concepts. For the European Commission’s representation in Germany, we transformed the foyer of Erlebnis Europa into a glowing highlight. Our goal? To attract passersby, draw them into the foyer, and create an atmosphere that reflects the theme of “Freedom and the 35th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.”

How to Plan an Event that Captivates Attention?

Organizing events is not just a matter of creative ideas; it’s also about smooth execution. Our process for the Erlebnis Europa event begins with an intensive concept phase. Together with our clients, we determine how to translate the festival’s theme into an engaging and visually appealing format.

Design Decisions: For Erlebnis Europa, we opted for a design that utilizes neon colors and UV light. This choice was made in close consultation with the client, as the light concept had to align with the nighttime effect of the Berlin Festival of Lights. The installation needed to be visible to passersby during twilight and evening hours, generating a “Wow Effect” and spark curiosity. Neon colors and UV light are ideal for this, as they offer intense contrasts and an impressive luminosity.

How to Implement Creative Installations That Are Also Easily Removable?

Another key aspect of the event was the temporary nature of the installation. The solution is Tape Art – a technique that is not only visually striking but can also be removed without residue after the event. Our team of artists and crew members applied the Tape Art on the floor while simultaneously preparing the blacklight installations.

Advantages of artworks made from tape: Tape art offers a removable installation that allows the EU Commission’s foyer to be seamlessly restored to its original state post-event. This feature is especially valuable in high-traffic public spaces, where maintaining normal operations without disruption is essential.

How to Attract Visitors to the Event?

To ensure that many passersby became curious and entered Erlebnis Europa, we organized live music with a DJ every evening. The rhythmic sounds, combined with the visually appealing light installation, immediately grabbed attention and piqued visitors’ interest.

Interactive Activities: Additionally, there were interactive activities that made the event family-friendly. Not only adults, but also children could actively participate. This year, for example, we had a caricature artist on site who created live portraits and provided guests with an unforgettable experience.

Success Factors: What Makes an Event Like Erlebnis Europa a Complete Success?

In event organization, visitor and client feedback is crucial. We achieved our goal of filling the foyer every evening over two weekends. The space was packed to capacity each night, the atmosphere was lively, and the client was extremely satisfied.

Event Conclusion:However, after the event, it was important to restore the EU Commission’s foyer to its original state. Here, the choice of Tape Art proved beneficial, as we were able to remove the entire installation without leaving a trace.
