“Zukunftsstadt” (Future City)- tape art and guidelines

Art is needed everywhere, in more subtle shapes, or more obvious, according to needs. My most recent project, which I made together with my, implied making some tape art at the “Zukunftsstadt” Event, or Future City, as it would be translated from German into English. The artwork was a commission for the German Minister of Education and Research (BMBF), but we all did it with the same enthusiasm and dedication we perform each task. Of course, this time, we had to do something subtle, something that will suit the event, be interesting, and not will occupy too much space. So, what could we do to satisfy all these requests? Since our prime material is duct tape, we used the floor as our support for the art piece.

The tape is very resistant, once it is fixed on the support. So even if it will be on the floor, people will be able to step on it, and it will have the possibility of being washed, without the risk of damaging our representation. This time, we used only white and blue colored duct tape, for putting our artistic plan into action. We used straight lines and geometrical shapes, the entire work looking like the graphics of a metro network. After all, education and research are interconnected, and they should permanently communicate, for the best results to be achieved. This is why my team and I considered that this art piece would be suitable for the event and will have the desired impact.
