What is packing tape art
Packing tape art emerged in the late 1960s as an offshoot of the increasingly popular tape art technique. Packing tape (parcel tape) is usually used on transparent surfaces like windows. By using light (light box principle), a complete transformation of a packaging tape artwork is achieved. So, this tape art technique thus enables a spectacular transformation of the urban environment; it is the most exclusive, most complex, most resource-intensive, and therefore most expensive type of tape art.
What makes this technique unique
The uniqueness of packaging tape art lies in the light box principle and the fact that it can be transformed into a completely different work of art at the push of a button.
Only 3-4 artists worldwide work with this technique. Packaging tape art requires a lot of time and concentration: a single piece of art can take weeks or even months to create. The result will always be impressive: such a work of art attracts a lot of attention, often has a deep meaning and creates the “WOW effect” for the viewer!

Our focus & inspirations
A key characteristic of packaging tape art is that there are no universal rules – it offers absolute freedom of creativity. The Selfmadecrew is inspired by the opportunity to experiment and feel no limits.
We love the rapid development of tape art, the growing interest of the public and the opportunity to innovate and find new ways to use tape. We love being pioneers – it gives us the energy for new achievements.
Packing tape artists for hire
Selfmadecrew is a team of tape artists who love to use new materials and techniques to beautify urban environments and surfaces. We want to create new experiences, so we collaborate with cultural institutions (organizations) such as museums or galleries, brands and city governments to create original installations in public and other spaces. We are open to new collaborations and proposals.
